In a significant occasion, former Philippine President Fidel V. Ramos met the leaders of Alpha Phi Omega Australia Inc, namely: Bro Jimmy Ahillon, Sis Yolanda Gacho, Sis Daisy Mejia and Sis Nene Ahillon in a dinner gathering held at Sydney Hilton Hotel.

One of the highlights of the evening was the presentation of "Outstanding Project Award" to Alpha Phi Omega Inc by Pres. Ramos. APO Australia Inc was recognised due to its 1st Philippine Eagle Scout Project. There were only two qualified awardees for outstanding project awards. The awarding was conducted on 29 November 1998.
